The Role

Location: Site based at Carrapateena
Roster: 8 days on 6 days off; travel 100% on company time from Adelaide or Port Augusta
Reporting to: Senior Surveyor - Mining

The role of the Surveyor - Mining is to coordinate the delivery of technical survey & mapping expertise in a safe & timely fashion as required by the mining operation. 

Key Responsibilities


The Surveyor - Mining role will focus on ensuring the value of Carrapateena is maximised. Specifically, this includes:


  • The development and integration of the systems and processes necessary to fulfil the delivery of the daily, monthly and longer term survey requirements to the mining operation;
  • The continued maintenance and upgrade of the above systems and processes as deemed necessary by the operation;
  • Ensure that there exists a complete catalogue of current procedures that are adequate for the safe and efficient completion of surveying tasks;
  • Maintaining survey control infrastructure and completing check traverses as required;
  • Keeping mine plans up to date for both Internal and External Regulatory use including emergency plans, mine plans and statutory plans as required;
  • Ensuring that survey and volume calculations for End of Month Reporting are completed on time and are accurate;
  • The survey of all underground headings and voids to maintain direction and grade;
  • Set out underground exploration drilling to required accuracy;
  • Ensure production ring mark ups and void surveys are completed in a timely manner;
  • The completion of cable bolt set outs as required.


Applicant Requirements


This role requires a values based individual with a desire to deliver best practice outcomes with skills and personal attributes including:


  • Tertiary qualifications in Surveying;
  • Underground mine survey experience;
  • Knowledge of underground survey methods and techniques;
  • Experience in End of Month Volume calculations;
  • Understanding of Australian mining legislation and regulations, especially Occupational Health and Safety;
  • Experience with RTK GPS systems, Total Stations and surveying methodology;
  • Experience with Laser Scanner systems;
  • IT literate with emphasis on mining software (Deswick) and Microsoft suite of programs;
  • Practical experience with Mine Planning and Mine Operations systems.
